This club is organised and operated by Educody GmbH from Frankfurt am Main. In the Junior Coding Club we teach logic and concepts of programming in a playful way, build robots out of Lego, design digitally and master fun challenges. How can we improve our future? Based on this question, the children set up a project, at the end of which a product is created at the end of the school year. We learn about the entire product cycle for producing a solution in a problem-based, explorative and playful way.
In this innovative educational offer, we focus on skills for the future and at the same time we guide the children to find a healthier way of dealing with digital media. For a future in which the minds of tomorrow master digitalisation, and not one in which digitalisation dominates the children.
Our curriculum is oriented on the K-12 Computer Science framework of the Computer Science Teacher Association (CSTA) and the Standards of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
Our activity is designed to empower student voice, ensure that learning is a student-driven process and thrive the following areas of competence:
Empowered Learner
:
Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.
Digital Citizen:
Students recognise the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical.
Knowledge Constructor:
Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.
Innovative Designer
:
Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.
Computational Thinker:
Students develop and employ strategies for understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test solutions.
Creative Communicator
:
Students communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals.
Global Collaborator:
Students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams locally and globally.
Our learning groups are arranged according to age and ability. The youngest children are in the age group of 5 - 7 years. We teach up to the age of 14, but there are also courses (for example app development) for teens up to 18.
If the children have already had contact with digital media at pre-school age - e.g. at home with tablets or smartphones - and show interest, we strongly advise them to start with media education at an early age. Afternoon care is very suitable for this, because at this age the focus is on playfulness and exploration. After six hours of school and homework, children still have enough motivation to work with tablets and computers in a supervised setting.
There are no specific system requirements but some education services and apps might need certain hardware. A modern computer with Mac OS or Windows 10 is a save bet.
Office software and most apps of the Junior Coding Club should be able to run on the minimum supported operating systems, however, the experience will always be better on the latest OS. Issues discovered that are specific to the minimum supported OS versions will not be prioritized.

Yes, this is possible. Either do it by self-service editing the profil of the student account in office 365 or write us an email to support@codingclub.cc.
Yes, of course. It is the idea to stay in touch even if your child takes a break but wants to stay in touch with the former Coding Club members.
Students can still use several homeschooling education services and apps without locally attending Coding Clubs in Schools. You need to apply to the base membership, registration can be found here.
Even if the Junior Coding Club takes place in your local school, we are not part of the schools IT system. We are an external partner of the local school. We want to create the best experience possible for 360° learning and offer an independent and dedicated Coding Club account for your child. With your registration for the Junior Coding Club, students get their own user account with access to education apps like Microsoft OneNote, Teams and Minecraft Education Edition.
Coding Club students can use the online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and many other useful apps for school work at https://office.com with their codingclub account. The online versions are sufficient for use at school, somewhat more reduced than the desktop version, but with a less overwhelming user interface. In principle, these programmes work in the browser like the online apps of Google Docs, if you are familiar with that. The files created in the online Word, PowerPoint etc. are fully compatible with the desktop versions. From the online version, students can simply share, e.g. via the Coding Club email account, or save to the OneDrive cloud storage or locally on the device. Please note: An internet connection is required for the online MS Office versions opened in the browser.
Additionally, the Microsoft Office versions on iPad or Android tablet versions can be installed via the app stores and used with the student Coding Club account.

Photo, audio and video recordings as well as video conferences are part of the open, networked and creative lessons at the Junior Coding Club. These data are collected under media pedagogical supervision and serve to document work results or are part of the activities.
The students are generally authorised to use the photo/video function or the microphone with their work devices.
The virtual classroom and exercises with collaboration software require video conferencing networking and data. During the live online lessons of the Junior Coding Club, the video conference stream is recorded and saved by default. Saving the stream is for transparency, documentation and for internal audits or training purposes. Parents and learners can also view the recording of the lessons as a general rule. If you do not want your child to be recorded, please click the checkbox below and contact us directly: datenschutz@codingclub.cc. In this case, we will use our best efforts to prevent or delete recordings. Nevertheless, you must agree to this statement, as this type of learning will inevitably result in recordings being made and we cannot exclude the possibility of recordings being made of your child.
